Richmond’s self sufficiency reduces landfill waste

 Richmond operates an integrated waste extraction and boiler system.  This system collects both dust and solid wood waste generated during wood panel processing, using the waste as a fuel source to generate MPHW at 120°C at a rate of 2 MW.  This biomass fuel plan provides energy to heat the entire site and eliminates the site demand for natural gas entirely. 

This reduction in waste contributes to a reduction in the amount of waste disposed into landfill.

Richmond utilises its modern microprocessor control systems to provide optimum performance of the boiler plant and stack emissions. 

Burning takes place in an efficient and environmentally beneficial situation from a sustainable fuel source.
